Tapsearcher explores local value added economy

The U.S. has gone through the most massive dislocation of jobs in history including the Great Depresssion with millions losing their jobs and small to medium size businesses that lasted more than fifty years destroyed by so called free trade. - Who said we had to compete like this in a global economic arena ?

Why does the news media and our political leaders hide from the real causes behind our economic crisis?
Why do we continue an economic culture that is not in tune with who we are as a people?
Why do we gather together into neighborhoods, cities, states and nations? We divide so that those within these grouping can pursue the life ideal better.
This includes the linking and balancing the value of jobs and business to the community.

Even Adam Smith held that work and workers were something sacred and the core of society. Why then do we take advantage of those who make and grow the the things we use and eat.
How can a community expect to survive if they depend on wage slave labor in far away places to make or grow these things. A community is not a linear institution. Everything that happens affects all the members and if there is a broken chain in this network, a breakdown comes that affectsall. The value of work and workers affects us all from the top to the bottom and back up again. If we segregate the activities out of balance with the whole, many suffer the consequences. All are affected in one way or another. Consumers can not forget that they are workers too and the wages related to making or growing something stages the value of everything. Many say it is only human nature to shop for the cheapest price but is it human nature to ignore what happens if the price is the result of an underclass making the things use and how long will it take for this degradation and deflation of workers come home to our own front door. It is only a matter of time when all incomes are balanced out to the water level. Today that level is down to wage slave and even child labor.

Every time production is moved to a cheaper labor market, a burn out community is left behind and there is always places that offer cheaper and cheaper labor with lesser and lesser regulations.

Acccording to Rerum Novarum that stood the test of more than hundred years as a standard for workers and owners, owners should be able to make enough money for their efforts to enjoy a good living while making enough profit to extend much of the same to all the workers they employed. If this is out of balance, than all of the community will be out of sync.

If investments are put first before workers dignity, the community is affected. Worst yet, if money becomes the main product being produced and manipulated than the value of work is separated from production. If money and work run on separate courses, then we have an economic crisis like we do today. Our economies based on making money on money instead of making and growing things in balanced geopolitical settings down to local communities are burning out. If we do not adjust this situation, we will go the way Rome did. Rome divided investment from work and the workers recoiled as they always do in history with everyone worst off from the bottom to the top. If the ruling class gets more and more segregated from the masses, terrible things happen. Lech Walesa, leader of the Solidarity movement in Poland which played a major role in the downfall of the Soviet Union, says he has lost his faith in American to do things the right way. He says he does not know that much about business and economics but when ten percent of the population controls 100 percent of the wealth, something is very wrong. President Roosevelt said economic diseases are highly communicable. He most likely said it in connotation of his New Deal but the statement applys across the board. Free trade today is like sex, you sleep with every partner your partners slept with. Today these partnerships include wage slave labor and the laundering of drug money through companies participating in free trade.
