News hit the streets yesterday that the Lebanese Muslim Association has banned five of Australila's leading Imams from talking to the media..... particularly Arab media.
The reason for the gag order is due to the immeasurable damage caused with their 'anti-Australian messages' (anyone care for some 'uncovered meat'?). The notably notorious Sheik Hilali was one of the Imams to receive the "pause and desist" order. They have also been told that if they speak to the media they could get the sack.
Now really, these guys aren't being prevented from spreading their anti-Australian message. They are just being prevented from letting the outside world know of their anti-Australian tirades.
LMA president Tom Zreika yesterday told The Australian the letter was issued to end the "perceived un-Australian viewpoints given by some clerics".
He added that the messages some clerics delivered in Arabic contradicted comments given in English while talking to the mainstream media.
"They go on to the Voice of Islam and talk about something which really isn't in accordance with our views as Australians.
"(While) most of our clerics are selected on the basis that they have Australian values and Australian characteristics ... some of them haven't (lived) up to that."
If these guys are so un-Australian, and are spreading views which support hatred and unacceptance of Western values and society, what are they still doing in their jobs? Shouldn't they be sacked rather than gagged?!!

What the hell? I mean damn, where do they get their titles? How do they make it to these positions? It's all bloody politics these days.
Don't gag them, cut them off, if they speak nonesense censoring them is only adding fuel to the fire, just cut them off and say you have no affiliation with them anymore, they are worse PR for Muslims than Peter Costello is.
It isn't even allowed in Islam to compare humans with Animals, it is even worse to disrespect women the way he did, of course certain idiots jump on this news and claim that is how all Muslims are suddenly and thats what Islam is about, which it bloody well isn't. Yeah, the voice of reason tends to be silenced for a bit of media hoola hoola.
And they make people think that Islamic = unaustralian, but thats another matter entirely.

I agree 100%... the voice of a few wackos gets all the hoopla. But why aren't they removed from their posts? It all seems a big joke.
