The geopolitical settings in the Middle East have been the same for a
thousands of years. Instead of fermenting wars there,we should stand
aside and follow certain proven historical practices. When things
affect us, the USA should concentrate on balancing of the powers and not
getting directly involved. The terms democracy and the free market have
an entirely different meaning in the Middle East than it has in western
cultures. The same applys to China and much of Asia. Just because we
have a worldwide network of communications does not mean we can
communicate at the same frequency.
The study of geopolitics is critically needed in our schools. Philosophy
which seeds this has to be addressed too. When President Bush said his
greatest philosopher was Jesus, showed how far away we are from acting
in a proper order of things. This statement in itself mixed a pot of bad
stew of religion and politics like the world did during the crusades.
Globalization has fails to sort this out in proper fashion. Free trade
has degraded the value of workers and has caused more strive. Human
dignity in the workday has been set aside. Workers have no voice in the
process of globalization and free trade. History tells us that only
havoc follows this practice. A new kind of colonialization has arrived
with nations having to defend their interests accross the globe due to
free trade. The main problems of our times are not new. It is a matter
of centralization in conflict with decentralization. We must know that
when we try to make false premises universal, we are destined to
failure. In his economic encylical, Pope Benedict stresses the practice
of subsidiarity which means all decisions should be made at the lowest
level possible.
The major news channels practice a system of communications by rank
where the voice of an underclass is ignored.
Now our economies based on making money on money instead of making
things in local balanced geopolitical settings, are burning out as we
wait for the next economic bubble to burst. It will be a earth
shattering event.
