A Ridiculous NSW State Election
March 22nd 2007 02:45
Just a point that's been bugging me about the NSW state election.
On Sydney TV and radio, I'm subjected to Iemma's awful commercials about how he knows everything currently stinks (health, education, transport) but he's trying to fix it.
I also love how he's abolishing the land tax that labour themselves created. Hello?
The rest of the ads are just plain old negative muckraking. Baggin out the competition.
I don't feel I've heard anything informative about any candidates from either major party.
The Liberals seem commited to fail. They don't even act like they're trying to win. They've only been playing one ad on radio and tv that just bags out three of Iemma's ministers. They don't even particularly say exactly why these guys need to be voted out. The ads don't even tell you to vote liberal. They just say don't vote labour.
What's going on?
I'm not planning on voting for either party. But even if I was, both parties'election campaign strategy is the epitome of childish behavour and bad politics.
At least fomer detainee Habib is running for a seat. That should make for some interesting election night media coverage!
Enough said. Thanks, I feel better already.
